Photoshop Alternative -- KompoZer 0.7.7 Beta

KompoZer

I was reading a download.com release with several photoshop alternatives and I figured I would give a few of them a try, maybe to review one here even. So far, I've had alot of success with KompoZer, mainly because it's a very good alternative, like the Gimp and Paint.net but a little bit simpler.

Kompozer is an open source web development tool built on NVU. The project strives to fix bugs in the NVU project and added new features to it. Both the HTML editor as well as the CSS editor has so far be fixed and updated as part of the Kompozer project - and many more changes are scheduled.

Apart from that the main feature set is exactly as in NVU. And one of the most important features is still that editing take place in WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) mode allowing you full control of layout as you work with your web design.
The Program itself has some features that I thought were very simular to Paint.Net's interface (although you can be the judge).

The layout isn't that hard to get used to and it's something for people who just want an alternative to Photoshop, and considering it's price (photoshop that is) it's not something that is really that hard to hold onto.
Still being in a Beta Stage it's not something you should use if your not a very experienced user, and of course, it does have some minor bugs. Besides that, it's a good* alternative to Photoshop and other pricey editing and creating software out there.

It's not fabulous, but it will get the job done. Seeing as it's fairly new, it will have problems like I've said above. Not that this should make you sway away from it, it does also have many features that aren't buggy and do preform fairly well. Seeing as I've only had a few hours with it I will most likely update this review later with more "detailed" information.
